And, UC Berkeley is hardly the only “traditional,” ground school offering an online degree program. In fact, a number of prominent ground schools have already developed and implemented online degree programs and more are following suit.
Additionally, the Next Generation Learning initiative, a collaboration of the Gates and Hewlett Foundations and a handful of other education non-profits, is working towards “transforming education through technology” and “funding innovations in online learning,” in a widespread attempt to drive up falling graduation rates and technologically educate students everywhere.
Moreover, countless resources exist to “help faculty members and departments make the transition to online learning” with many more in the works. Then unfamiliarity with online learning and what it can truly afford. Usually, the average instructor has heard horror stories about online learning being the poor cousin of face-to-face learning- which is unfortunate, because new technologies allow opportunities for enhanced interaction and enhanced pedagogies.”
