The source of funds for a college loan does not alter the expectations of the student who is awarded that loan. Every lender of a college student loan has certain obligations.
Every lender of such a loan needs to supply the borrower with certain information. For example, anyone who receives one of the college based student loans should receive a detailed repayment schedule.
Yet a borrower looks for more than just a repayment schedule. A borrower needs to know the loan rates and the loan fees.

If you know which schools you’d like to attend, it may be to your benefit to find out whether those schools offer school-specific scholarships as part of your financial aid package. As a high school junior, it is time to start some college planning to make the college admission process as stress free as possible. 1. Continue to work hard in all of your classes in order to make the best grades you can. Challenge yourself with a few honors or AP courses. Colleges will want to see a sustained effort in your grades from now until your high school graduation. Your GPA is very important for college admissions.
2. Look for continued involvement in school and community activities and be willing to take on leadership responsibilities. Colleges prefer to see a shorter list of activities with more commitment on your part than a longer list where you are only a member or participant.
3. Register to take both the SAT and ACT sometime the spring of your junior year. Seriously consider taking a test prep course or getting some individual tutoring to prepare for the tests. After you have taken the tests, you may feel that one is more suited for your learning style. Colleges will accept either the SAT or ACT. Taking the test two or three times is usually a good idea. Colleges are interested in your highest score.

Are there mistakes that can disqualify a college
scholarship application? You bet. Generally speaking, most local scholarship committees may find a few minor mistakes acceptable, but the higher the level of competition, the less tolerance there is for a faux pas. And when you go for the gold at the national level of competition, no mistake is permissible. Even at the local level, if the competition is heavy, one error can result in the loss of money.
Even small spelling mistakes can cause an application to be thrown out. A judge reviewed a submission from a girl who was second in her class. She had a 3.95 GPA. The problem? She misspelled salutatorian. Believe it! How does that
happen? Surely, it should have been noticed. Was it a keyboarding error? Maybe.
Another application from a boy on the baseball team noted that he won the league batting title with a .259 average. Know anything about baseball? Most likely, the number 2 should have been a 3, 4, 5, or even 6.
Yet, another listed the applicant’s age as “88.” Do you suppose she was the oldest high school student in the country…in the world? But wait, she listed her birth date as eighteen years earlier. Those are the kinds of silly little miscues that can disqualify good candidates. Use the computer spell check and have someone read for context and spelling problems. Most people cannot do a good job of proof-reading themselves. Why take a chance?
